Could this plan work?

Rumor Mill: Armstrong Williams reports that the Obama campaign and New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg have devised a plan in the event that Hillary gets the nomination. Bloomberg would give $1 billion to Obama to run as an independent with Bloomberg as his running mate - Could this plan work ?

Answer #1

It could work in the sense that they could indeed run. The outcome would not be the election of Obama/Bloomberg. The outcome would be a victory for McCain.

Since Hillary and Obama have not burned eachother’s bridges, a ticket featuring the two of them would be pretty much unstoppable. If Obama loses to Hillary and she does not invite him to be the VP candidate (which would be asinine on her part), he would be better served as McCain’s VP candidate. Combined, they could beat Hillary.

Spot on toadaly. I enjoy your posts, because then I don’t have to answer.

Answer #3

Sure, with that kind of money Obama could get on the ballot in all 50 states and probably steal votes from both Hillary Clinton and McCain. He has the most momentum and I think could win as an independent candidate. His victory would depend largely on how many conservatives actually vote for McCain. That is where McCain is focusing his efforts right now (so I disagree with toadaly that he would ever pick Obama as a running mate).
