Could my shih tzu pregnant??

My little shih tzu came into season a few weeks ago but it has stopped now. Im prettymuch always with her except for an isolated hour or two in the mornings when she’s in the back garden which is fenced. I’ve noticed her nipples are very big! Is this normal after she comes out of heat as her body is changing or could a dog have impegnated her without me knowing?

you have two answers here.

  1. a stray dog came into the yard and tied with her

  2. she is having a false pregnancy and because you did not get her spayed this increases her chance of mammory cancer in the future.

If it were my pet, I would get her spayed NOW, because you don’t know what size the male was and she may not be able to pass the puppies, and two the sooner you get her spayed you lower her percentage of getting certian types of cancer. May a call your vet, I am sure they will tell you the same answer. I work for one.

Answer #2

my puppy is 7 months old and she is near to her first season and her nipples are more noticeable. doesnt mean she is pregnant. rememeber a puppy should be bread AFTER HER 2ND season as a litter this early could cause problems :( I’ve got some dog pants to put on my westie when she is out and about on a walk. or I just keep her on the lead. make sure you have no strag dogs in your area and your garden in enclosed it.

you should be fine :)

take her to the vets if you are worried

Thanks for that, its put my mind at rest. I won’t be allowing any dogs near my pretty puppy, im looking into having her spayed as I hated seeing her so down in the dumps.
