Yes, if your making a profit from it you can be sued by the original owner of the song. Even if your changing the words, your still using their music so your breaking copyright laws.

Parody is perfectly legal. Saturday Night Live, MadTV, Weird Al Yankovic. It’s legal because it’s obvious where it came from, and it’s obvious that it’s making fun, not that you’re trying to pass it off as your own.

Well, to combine the answers, if you don’t try to make money off of the song you make, you’re safe. Mandyloo has the right to correct me if I’m wrong, of course.

You don’t have to own copyright, but it’s safe practice to get written permission from the copyright holder of the original song granting you rights to do a parody of the same.
