Cops giving me a warning or no?
Okay so here is the thing, Me and my buddy got pulled over. The car stank of … the cop then asked to search the car and all that we said he could he handcuffed us and put us on the side of the road while searching the car he found a lot of Paraphernalia and under 1/8 of weed, he also found a grinder and scale… the cop said he was going to charge me with intent to distribute even though I only have 2 grams and ten bucks on me… So we got put into the police car and waited til our parents got there (by the way I’m only 16) once they got there we were released and sent home. He told my mom we would get a letter in the mail in about three days that was on july 10th it is not the 18th and there is still no letter me and my friend have been very confused. So today my friends dad called the police station and there is no record of us even being pulled over now. Also we got no citations that night, no tickets, we signed nothing. Now I have two questions… Did I get away with all of the charges? If I did not get away with it and have to go to court, because I did not get any citations and no tickets, since I did not sign anything nor did my parents wouldn’t I legally not be there and say I was home sleeping?
u should be more responsible than that I suggest you get a lawyer norml.org look in the directory section and look for a marijuana lawyer near u
lol dont listen to what people tell u, its all misleading information you need to do your own research and see for urself
These are some of the comments I have copied from a forum
-pharmaceuticals are known to kill more people than illegal drugs
-marijuana is the number 1 cash crop in the world it serves as a natural medicine and has many other uses thats why they prohibited it so big companies can make more profit thanks to “bad journalism”
-can also help aids patients, aids diminishes appetite have them smoke a joint and they regain their appetite counteracting the illness
-no one can die from smoking cannabis and has been no known deaths compared to everything else including alcohol, tobacco, etc..
I myself have asthma and smoking opens up my airways making it easier to breathe with no side effects when medically legalized in my state I look foward to becoming a patient for prescription marijuana. 12 states have already legalized it along with other countries in the world and more following my job is to educate people that are not aware of the plants uses
re-legalize!
-I did most of my research through websites, books, magazines, and the news norml.org high times magazine etc..
- theres more to it than just getting high and I believe legalizing it would make this a better world to live in
-God bless the whole crop!
- and for people that dont smoke, you dont need to smoke it to support it
-all the better reason for the government to legalize.. couple reasons why it should be legalized: -will be removed from black market and stop empowering gang members -medical reasons -would be sold like alcohol, remember alcohol was once prohibited too (in stores away from children, have to be 21+) -would be a law that you cant drive while intoxicated on weed -prison population would lower (prisons are overcrowding with nonviolent offenders) -keep patients from being convicted -would provide millions of jobs for people -would make us an independent country (fuel, etc.., debt free america)
people with an addiction (including hard drugs) shouldnt be thrown in jail, they need help theres more people in jail with mental illnesses than there are in mental institutions
the list goes on
- the War on Drugs is a failure, its a war on its own people. policies need to be changed we pay billions in taxpayers money to keep the war going and neither side is winning thats just a waste of our tax money I wonder what they do with all that money.. those greedy bastards just sell drugs back onto the street, you can even check urself on that there was a time when there was a cia operation transporting drugs overseas into america the government also provided Rick Ross with plenty of heroin to go around, course making money from it
the truth must be exposed, theyre dirty work must stop!
-Of course we can do something about it, we all just need to unite screw the federal government remember slavery? if no one stood up im pretty sure it would still be going on people were tortured, beaten, killed and thrown in jail but that didnt stop them standing up for their rights eventually slavery was abolished same with alcohol prohibition eventually became re-legalized
- its like theres some kind of conspiracy going on I sense the government is up to no good and trying to control us. credit cards, money, and now they have chips that can be implanted in skin for uselful reasons but if in the wrong hands well were pretty much fuct they hiding the truth from us its dangerous to be right when the government is wrong they got theyre privacy but we dont. they want to know everything were doing on our leisure time
get up stand up!
- marijuanas not anti-establishment because its illegal, its illegal because its anti-establishment
all facts stated have been double-checked and confirmed want to learn more? norml.org americandrugwar.org hightimes.com lets all make this a better place to live in!
I wouldn’t have your parents call the police. The cop obviously confiscated the stuff for personal use. If you called and said “Hey, some cop stole our weed, are we still in trouble?” that could lead to you getting charged and the officer getting fired.
your parents need to call and make sure too! You may have gotton away with it!! If you dont get papers you dont have to go! If you did not sign anything I thionk your safe!
Well, two things. Attempt to distribute means exactly that. You are seemingly attempting to distribute whatever substance you have. And, how the cop could get you on that is this. Substance, scale, money. So, be glad you didn’t actually get charged. Secondly, I think the cop was trying a scare tactic on you to prevent you from continuing whatever path you could be heading down.
As for the “not being there” thing you put at the end of your question, it’s your word versus the cop. Guess who could win. Just saying. But, because he didn’t cite you that means there really isn’t anything that can happen to you legally. Just next time, don’t drive around with a scale in your car. And, NEVER consent to a search. Period. Unless you have a warrant or they have probable cause, do not consent to a search. Why you might ask? Illegal search and seizure. Just saying.
What if you consent to a search and the cop finds something you didn’t know was there. Like say a Class 2 Controlled Substance. You honestly didn’t know but that still doesn’t matter as it technically is in your possession so guess what you get charged with? A felony drug offense that probably would and will get dropped down to a lesser charge. But, how did you know that your friend or someone you barely know was going to drop that in your car? You didn’t. That makes it circumstancial and you an innocent bystander of something that wasn’t really your fault. I’m not saying it is going to happen. But, it could. Just saying.
Since you were juveniles, it may have been tuned over to the Juvenile section of the legal system and they may be excessively busy.
In any event, I wouldn’t worry about it or do anything about it unless and until you receive something in the mail, if ever.
Just remember, you may have been lucky this time but next time may start a record on you that could haunt you for the rest of your life.
No signature, no citation, no mail?
I say you’re in the clear.
Not to mention, if there is no paperwork from the time you were pulled over, how is an office going to be able to prove it? Did he keep the paraphernalia? You can’t get in that much trouble for paraphernalia anyway. A gram of weed is only a misdemeanor charge anyway.
I would still call, or have your parents call, the police station and find out whats up
Thanks everyone for your advice!!! And yes I know I should not let him have searched the car but all the windows were down and it stank of weed!! The cops were I live are also very dirty cops if I was to say no to the search he could get a warrant very fast and that could have made things worse… And the intent to distribute charge would be a felony thats why I was worried so much but it does not look like anything is going to happen, hopefully nothing does.. But Thanks again all
