Do cooked eggs in baking go bad if not refrigerated?

Lets say you just made some brownies. Anddddd you left em out for a couple hours on the counter so everyone could just pass by and grab one when they felt like it. Would they go bad? Cause Ive done it before and had no problems..Btw they’re gluten free ones. Which prolly dpesnt matter, but you know. Just in case. So would they go bad, and if not or if yes then why?

Answer #1

No - they’ll be fine. Once the egg is cooked, it takes much longer for it to go bad than when it was raw.

Answer #2

Well, yes and no, Colleen. They won’t go bad for quite a while, but it’s not because they’re cooked. If you leave out some plain hardboiled eggs with the brownies, for instance, the eggs won’t last nearly so long. I think the reason they’re ok in the brownies is that they’ve chemically bonded with other, non-egg, ingredients.

Answer #3

Sorry, I should have said specifically “Once the egg is cooked into …” ;)
