“We shouldn’t worry about “international backlash.” What is popular isn’t always what’s right. One reason why Europe loves Obama is because he is very left, which is the same as Europe.”

I disagree. We should worry about international backlash. And it’s not a question of “popular vs. right”, mainly because, well Bush has been very wrong, which is why he’s so unpopular. The hatred Europeans have for the Bush administration has rubbed off onto other Republican candidates, including McCain. Why do Europeans hate Bush? Not because they’re all lefties and socialists. You’ve obviously never been to Europe if you think that’s the case. The reason they hate Bush is because of the Iraq war, reports of torturing detainees, failure to act on climate change (not a right-left issue anymore), and an overall sense that the US does not care what Europe thinks in international matters.

They like Obama because he represents everything Bush does not on the above mentioned concerns. He wants to gradually scale back in Iraq, he favors different methodology for dealing with suspected terrorists, he supports moving the US away from fossil fuel addiction, and he favors diplomatic engagement with the rest of the world.

I agree with religonisgood. it irks me whenever people talk about not voting for someone just because he’s too “liberal” or “conservative”

Answer #3

It happens every election, so yes it will happen.

We shouldn’t worry about “international backlash.” What is popular isn’t always what’s right. One reason why Europe loves Obama is because he is very left, which is the same as Europe.

His lead is pretty big right now. If it remains this big, and he still loses, it will be clear it was stolen. Even more clear than the fraud in 2004, which was harder to prove because the polls were much closer than they are now.

when`s the final voting? I think he would be much better president that bush but I have bad feelings about nostradamous prophercies lol xx

Answer #6

I think another problem that might arise if Obama loses will be international backlash. Obama is overwhelmingly popular across most of the world. I’ve actually never seen a presidential candidate with this much visible international support. It’s gotten to the point where it seems the US will lose a lot of good will if Obama is not the next the president. That’s not to say people will hate the US more if McCain wins, since many people especially here in Europe admittedly don’t know much about McCain. However, expectations are very, very high all over the world for an Obama presidency. A lot of people will be frustrated with the US if he loses.

Based on everything that Obama has campaigned on, I’m actually very interested to see what will actually happen if he’s elected. Very interesting time to live in for us…that’s for sure…

oaklandathletics, you are very young and you need to find things out for yourself. It was not the democrats fault. It was caused by deregulating the banking and credit industry.

It started in the 80s with reagan, and helped along in the 90s by clinton, and the bush adminstration put deregulation on steroids. Basically the government stopped watching what they were doing, and a bunch of greedy people took advantage. It goes beyond politics.

I don’t care how, but if obama loses, there will be joy in my household. he is only getting a huge lead right now because everyone thinks its the republicans fault the economy is breaking apart. Well guess what, it was the democrats fault. They wanted everyone to be able to buy a house, even people who couldn’t afford one. it worked well at first, when the price of houses was rising, but when it started to fall, those people could no longer pay for their houses and suddenly they owed a ton of money to the bank and everything started breaking apart. Now we, the american tax payers, have to pay for this whole mess, and the people who screwed us up in the first place get to keep their houses! What is wrong with this world for making us do this?
