How serious is congestive heart failure?

Does anyone have or know anyone with this condition? I don’t really need a textbook answer. I just kinda want to know how long someone will live with it etc. Oh and I am speaking of someone who isn’t really willing to make any lifestyle changes.

Answer #1

in the hospital it means your pretty near dead? it would be a code blue

Answer #2

The person is not in the hospital at all and isn’t sick enough to be in the hospital.

Answer #3

ok well its very serious im pretty sure there is no cure for heart failure except getting a heart transplant. depending on if this person tries to imporove could get 2-10 years left of their life? depending on how bad the rest of his body is.. basically the heart isnt working properly so slowly the organs will deterioate and die.. so it could be months or years its really only someting a doctor can give a answer on.. if the kidney and liver are shutting down then its too the point of having days to months left… but ya a doctor would be better to get a better answer from

Answer #4

i mean his/her i just always put his for some reason

Answer #5

Well sorry to say it but generally when someone says a person is not willing to make lifestyle changes to improve their health it usually is a “he”.

Answer #6

The person did go to a doctor and the doctor didn’t tell him much except that there is nothing they can do. He is still walking breathing and eating and looks like himself, I was just wondering where this would be going. I know there is no cure for it.

Answer #7

ya if the doc said his/her was pretty healthy so far.. they may have a 1 or 2 years left but it really depends on on how the perosns organs are.. there is honestly no way to actually tell you how many years this person has.. they could shut down and die tomorrow from a heart attack becasuse of the heart failure.. if the person stops being so selfish and starts to take care of themselves they will prob prolong their life by a bit.. but if like you said they have no will to change then they prob dont have that much longer…

Answer #8

He’s had it for probably 10 years already and it isn’t really getting that much worse. That is why I was wondering.

Answer #9

It depends on how serious their case is. People with mild to moderate congestive heart failure could possibly live many years, while people with severe congestive heart failure might only live days, weeks, or months.

Severe congestive heart failure is when medications and treatments are unable to help compensate for poor function of the heart. People diagnosed with severe congestive heart failure are usually put in the hospital, and don’t make it. :/
