What can we do together to combat depression?

Answer #1

When you say “we”, who do you mean?

As a general point, however, you could try talking to someone about how you’re feeling. Going to see a counsellor or going for support groups could be beneficial to help you find out and battle the reasons you’re feeling depressed.

Answer #2

we means me you and other people who are sufffering we should help eachother out

Answer #3

There’s not much you can do really? I don’t know the efficacy of informal support groups. I suppose that would be something. But really, a bunch of depressed people getting together without a therapist does not sound like a recipe for success. You’ve got all that distorted thinking all coming together.

Hi Zehra. Joining FA, where lots of people try to support each other, seems like a good start. There are other social networking sites specifically dedicated to people who suffer from depression. But mutual support in face-to-face relationships with friends, family, and community is best. That can include depression support groups, spiritual community, and anyone you feel close with or drawn to reach out to, if they are responsive. Some people also find inspirational or self-help readings helpful. A depressed person’s distorted thinking is usually about their own life situation (which is why it’s not good to retreat into private depressive solitude). Fortunately, we can often be much more clear-sighted about helping each other out. {;^)
