Cold reading, anyone?

Cold reading is when someone you’ve never met and they have know knowledge is able to pretend to talk to spirits by watching and reacting to your reactions to each question like. “I sense that a male passed recently” well recently to you and me can be 2 different times. Most react with “yes” “I sense he was like a brother to you”

You “no”

“Well maybe a father figure” Notice he missed with like a brother and didn’t say father but farther figure” You “yes my dad dies last year” You see he got you to volunteer that info and made it seem it was him.

Using your reactions and body language is able to make it seem that he got the info from another more mysterious source when really he just good at reading you.

You’ll notice shows like john edwards have the audience sign a contract to not tell people about the show cause on tv they cut out when he misses like with “like a brother to you”

It’s basically a technique used by so-called “psychics” to convince a person the psychic has special knowledge of him or her despite never meeting them before. When psychics do cold readings, they study all kinds of verbal and non-verbal clues in order to pigeonhole, or categorize the person, and make guesses about that person’s past and present situations based on probability. Once the psychic has made a series of correct guesses about a person, he or she will then give a prediction about that person’s future, which the subject trusts to be credible.

It’s well known that psychics do this, and how they do it is available for all to study. Yet some people still actually believe there are people with psychic powers.
