How can someone get Canadian citizenship?

Other than getting married what are some other options for a US Citizen to gain citizenship or at least residancy in Canada?

Answer #1

Hi,

You must have at least three years of residency in Canada within four years immediately preceding the date of application. The rule requires that you are physically present in Canada for 1,095 days in a four year period.

You also have to take a written test, to see your knowledge of Canada, specifically:

  1. Knowledge of the democratic process,
  2. the right to vote in federal, provincial, and municipal elections,
  3. the right to run for elective office, and
  4. a general knowledge of the voting procedures relating to elections.

I hope that helps.
