I was in the same situation.

I was ordered child support payments plus arrears and the father was denied all visitation and lost his rights for abandoning the kids in the first place.

If you had a child support agreement through the courts or even one in writing then a judge will make him pay past support. As for seeing your child, I know in Pa the courts consider child support and visitation two different things. You can do either one without the other. Get a good lawyer and go for abandonment. He deserted your son, in my opinion he gave up all rights to him. The courts will normally not put a child in some one’s care that they are not comfortable with. If he does get visitation then it will most likely be with someone your child knows also there, at first. As for getting custody, since you’ve had physical custody of your son for 4 years that won’t be a problem. But like I said your ex might still be able to get visitation.

Good luck

yes, well you have all right to keep him away from your son right now, b/c he hasn’t paid child support, take him to court get a good lawyer and make him pay all his dues and if you can get him for abandoing the child for 4 years, so you have a very good case , at this point you just need a good lawyer and he or she will tell you how things work b/c laws or differenet in every state.

My brother and his girlfriend are going through the same thing thats how I know
