How to change this sentence to parenthetical one?

Some insects are never content with three meals a day . They always search for more food.

Strictly speaking, there is no need for parentheses to join those two sentences. However, you can still do it of course, but you probably shouldn’t. You could simply place the second sentence in parentheses, or you change it into “some insects are always searching for more food (not content with three meals a day)”. You should only use parentheses to add information that is not completely necessary for your argument, or which does not flow from what has already been stated. The two statements you’ve mentioned do flow into one another and so you’d probably be better off using dashes. For example: “some insects - not content with three meals a day - are always searching for more food”.

I am aware that I used hyphens when I said to use dashes in the last example, but that is because I don’t know how to make dashes outside of Microsoft Word :P.
