Career choice help!

K so I’m a senior at a public high school and im applying to several universities and feel horrible to the fact that I’m choosing undeclared for my major and minor. But the thing is that I don’t know what I want to study. I love learning new things and going to school. I was thinking to be a psychologist cause I like helping people out and advising them. or a fashion designer because I love fashion but that industry is quite competitive. But I dot know if that’s really what I would love to do for the rest of my life. I love to dance but I wouldn’t want to be a dance teacher. I want a profession. I kinda see myself more in the social worker study area or maybe a lawyer I have some law in me. I really dont know I see myself a little of everything . I really want to love what I do and be great at it. Not just because of the money. Do I really have to declare a major in order to guide me into the right direction at discovering my true interest of study at a public university. Getting into a public university undeclared how wold that help me on my path onto discovering what career is best for me? I know you have to take different sorts of classes for different majors and minors would that be a problem when choosing my major and minor later on concerning required credits etc? Please help me I really need some advice. thank you

Try as many new and different things as possible. If you want to you can put college off for a year. Right now get a job and a summer job and save up a bunch of money for your future. Also over summer and as long as it takes, go on a little life adventure. Bungee jumping, rock climbing, visit a different state, meet plenty of random unique people, maybe just go live on your own in an apartment. Who knows; there is a whole world out there waiting for you, with endless possibilities. The purest happiest most interesting experience comes from the least expected place. Make a list. Start by just titling it and have each of your friends write one thing to do on that list, and no matter what it is you have to do it. To keep this reasonable you can have two rules to this, meaning like…

  1. No illegal stuff!
  2. No dairy products (lactose intolerant?)

It’s pretty random and that list will help you see the world like never before. You’ll have an interest somewhere then. It starts getting more exciting and vivid when you do things you never thought you would do, or even like. Slow down in life and don’t feel bad if you miss a year or so before going to college.
