Why can't I sleep a normal pattern anymore?
ello, I’ve been in a sleeping pattern starting from 10:30 pm for about 3 - 4 weeks thn wake up at 8:30 - 9:00 am but I can never get to sleep. I cannot take sleeping pills because im 2 young(13) but am planning to start a new diet, I’ve had sleeping problems since I was a baby but its never got so bad where im falling to sleep ant 6::50 am in the morning so please can you help me thanx tara x x x
I’m sorry you’ve had so much trouble sleeping. I don’t know what your family’s eating habits are, but it could be as simple as you drink way too much soda with caffiene, and have all your life, and you’ve never been able to get to sleep because of it. Since you mention starting a new diet, you may want to look at how much caffiene you are drinking, and remove it from your diet…
Here’s something you can try - buy a relaxation cd…they have them everywhere, with all different kinds of music combined with natural sounds such as surf, crickets, birds, breezes. Now, since you are 13, you may not “like” the music, since its all very relaxing, instrumental, and leans toward the smooth jazz genre…but listening to Sean Kingston won’t help you get to sleep. Most of the displays where you can buy the CDs let you listen to samples - find something that you like.
Put that in your CD player when it’s time for bed, get in bed, get into a comfortable sleeping position, and then do this little exercise: starting at the top of your head, and slowing moving all the way down your body till you reach your toes, think about every muscle in your body, one at a time, and relax them. In your mind you’ll be thinking, “Relax my eyebrows, relax my jaws, relax my neck, relax my shoulders…” until every muscle in your body is relaxed. You will be very suprised at how many of your muscles are tensed and tight and you didn’t even know it. Then let the CD lull you to sleep…keep the volume low, but not where you are straining to hear it.
I have a few of these CDs, and I have never heard over half of the music that is on them, because I’m always asleep long before the end of the CD.
