Can You Give Me Some Tips On Reducing Caffeine Intake?

I’ve been an avid coffee, espresso, and other caffeine laden beverage fan for years. I think I need to slow down on it though, as I’ve heard from countless people how it’s not good for you to drink too much coffee & caffeine.

So, can you give me some tips on reducing my caffeine intake, without getting one of those terrible headaches? Every time I try to slow down, I get one. Thanks.

also reduce the strength of the coffee by watering it down or putting less in the filter

Like with any addiction, you’ll get the withdrawal effect if you completely stop (in your case that’s the headache). So try small steps at a time. Gradually, take less and less - like if you used to drink several cups a day, first skip one cup, after a while skip another, until you are left with one cup per day… then skip a day… then skip a few days… you know, take it slow and increase the caffeine-free intervals gradually. Or use the placebo effect. Dilute your coffee with milk or hot water more and more day after day until its mostly milk; the flavor and smell will still be that of coffee and you’ll feel like you’re still drinking coffee. Or try gradually moving to decaf. Eat chocolate, that has some caffeine in it which will satisfy your body’s addictive need but won’t give you the bad effects since it’s not strong enough. Good luck!
