Can Raw egg Yolk make you Sick???

is eating raw egg yolk straight from the fridge bad for you? can it & will it make you sick eventually?

I was told by Dr that I should give it to my 2 yr old who has turned off food & will only drink his milk in a bottle & so the Dr said I should disguise egg yolk in his bottle but since doing this I have told a few people & they said to stop giving to him as it can make him very unwell…

Eggs from the grocer are pasteurized, meaning they are safe raw.

The only eggs you shouldn’t do this with are farm-fresh.

Doctors know more than most of the people on FA…you should listen to him.

Answer #7

While pasteurized eggs are available most of the eggs in your grocery store aren’t.

Most raw eggs will not make you sick. I ate a lot of raw eggs in my life. Growing up I had homemade eggnog and mayonnaise that was made with raw eggs. I’ve always liked my breakfast eggs minimally cooked, sunny side up, very lightly poached, or soft boiled.

The biggest risk in eating raw eggs is salmonella poisoning. In fact the vast majority of Salmonella cases come from people eating raw or undercooked eggs.

I still like runny eggs and I eat them even though I know there is a small risk of getting salmonella from them. Restaurants usually want to completely cook eggs they serve to avoid problems so I always order my eggs runny and promise the waiter that I won’t sue them if I get sick.

Answer #8

Ummm. SALMONELA…that’s ALL I’m going to say!!!

Answer #9

Make sure the eggs is fresh, and no bird flu is on the rise. Then raw consumption is ok, but I prefer it half boiled (for the heat) with some soy sauce and peppers.

Answer #10

yeahhh!

Answer #11

All my friends who eat Farm fresh eggs raw are perfectly fine. However my friends who eat store bought eggs make sure to cook them well because almost all of them have gotten sick( not salmonella) eating them raw. Also I have heard people complaining about high cholesterol in eggs, but fertelized eggs changes the bad cholesterol into good cholesterol. Also green eggs (layed by Auricana chickens) have virtually no cholesterol.
