can I put my birds together

I too have a cockatiel and a parakeet myself but I NEVER put them together. I mean they will fight and hurt each other. trust me it happened before to me.

I have a parakeet and a cockatiel in the same cage. They have lived together for about 5 years and get along just fine.

In my opinion it’s never smart just to put animals together without letting them get to know each other first…

Where is your cockatiel living at the moment if she doesn’t have a cage?

When I got a partner for my female cockatiel, I put both their cages in the same area, so they’re both within eyesight. This way, they can get to know each other while still having their own space so they can’t hurt each other.

I used this time to ‘quarantine’ the new male, to clear out any health problems he might have had or could spread to my female. After a week or so, I moved their cages together so that they’re side to side, and they could touch and greet each other. I gave it another 2 weeks before I let the male live with the female in the same cage (don’t worry, it’s a huge cage). Originally, they would fight a bit at first, but now they’re total best friends :)

I don’t think that you should put them in the same cages, and by the way,where is your cockatiel sleeping and stuff if he doesn’t have cage?
