Burgers

Ok I was just wondering why are burgers considered unhealthy? Bread, meat and vegetables like lettuce and tomato are all pretty healthy in moderate amts, and usually very little salt and oil is added to burgers

Fast food burgers tend to be saturated with trans fat, aside from using lower grade beef. Also watch out with the amount of high calorie sauces slapped on in your burger. The buns are also usually white bread, or sugar buns, which aren’t good for you as they turn straight into sugar in your body which can go straight to your expanding waistline. Your best bet would be home-made burgers.

  • 100% whole wheat burger buns
  • 5-star grade minced beef (mixed with 1 egg, and hot sauce as a marinade or minimal salt and generous on the pepper, as hot sauce burns more calories. Roll meat into small balls and flattened, pan fried with a little olive oil, or no oil if you’re using a non-stick pan)
  • maybe use spinach leaves (ice berg lettuce has practically no nutritional value)
  • with tomatoes
  • easy on the dressing, depending on what it is (or even no dressing at all - as this is where all the extra calories can come in from nowhere).

Fast food chains will also tempt you with the extras, so if you decide to buy the meal that comes with that giant cup of Coke, it’s definitely not going to be healthy.
