Breastfeeding

I would like advice from those who have breastfeed. I have a couple questions. I bottle feed my 1st child. I was wondering if it is possible to breastfeed only by bottle. (by pumping your milk out and storing it) I am not comfortable with latching my child on when I have no idea how much he/she is drinking. also I heard many do the breast and bottle. Does the baby take both without an issue? I mean they are two completely differant things. Any answer is fine as long as it has to do with the questions. I am already educated on the benefits of breastfeeding a child.

Breastfeeding stimulates the breast to produce more milk. Pumping does not have the same effect. Of course any breast milk is better than none. Moms who can’t breastfeed because they need to return to work should still pump even if they end up giving their baby mostly formula because even a fraction of their nutrition coming from breast milk is good for them.

Another issue is that babies often will not nurse on the breast after they start using a bottle. Milk comes out of a bottle much more easily than from the breast so like the rest of us babies like to get their nutrition the quickest and easiest way. My daughter was an exception here; she had so much trouble latching on that my wife had to pump and give her a bottle but at 6 weeks she figured it out and started nursing.

I dont no if I can give you any help or not but my mom breastfeed in the hospital with both my sister (3) and my brother (8 months) and then when she got out she used the bottle thing…and when you change they do tell a difference but they get used 2 it…but when my mom was in the hospital and my best friend when she had her 2nd baby she brestfeed 4 about 3 months then quit…but the doctor told them both that you should only feed 4 about 15 mins or less at 1 time…and if you dont think there gettting enough then just go 2 the botttle…I really do hope I helped…
