What would you do if your boss was treating a colleague unfairly?

I love my boss, she is really great to me. However, she does put a lot of work on my office mate, and is planning on adding the work I do on top of it. It takes me at least 10-15 hours weekly to do what I do. There is no way for my office mate to add that to her full time job. I’ve tried to explain this to my boss, but she ignored me.

Answer #1

Well snow her this page once it fills up. And tell her FIRST that you think shes super great and you love her and shes awesome to you and stuff. Then use i-messages to state your feelings. Its what you FEEL not what shes doing wrong.

Answer #2

I’m sorry, I’m not going to jeopardize my job over this. I feel bad about it, and my colleague knows that things suck, but I do actually have to take into consideration that she is the only one fighting for me to be employed at the agency.

Answer #3

Sadly i cant comprehend with your logic. I understand, but id do the right thing no matter the cost. Good luck though, i hope things turn around..

Answer #4

Is there anyone else that could split the work load with your office mate? Or is there any way that you could try getting your office mate to break it down to your boss to show that it’s not very reasonable to expect of her?

If it were I in this position, I’d try to show the boss exactly where my time goes. Then explain that there’s no way that my office mate could do that, in addition to what she already does.

If the boss won’t listen, there unfortunately isn’t much else you can do.

Answer #5

The logic is that I cannot actually change the situation. If I could, I would do something. And my office mate is well aware that they are trying to get rid of her.

Answer #6

They’ve offered to get her an assistant for a few weeks. But she said how’s that going to help in the long run… (I told her she should have taken them up on their offer). I’ve tried to explain how long it takes to do what I do, but it’s like my boss is not hearing me. The annoying part is, my boss says the same thing about her boss. She’s given too much to do, and her boss wont hear her either. It’s like a pattern in the agency which is really irritating.

Answer #7

Is there any way you or your colleague could speak to the boss above your boss and explain the situation?

Answer #8

Unfortunately this is a problem between your boss and your colleague, and you shouldn’t even be getting involved. Your colleague is going to have to deal with this situation on her own, or you risk getting yourself fired.

Answer #9

She’s tried. This is the boss who ignores my boss. It’s worse with him.
