Blowdrying Hair.

I have a cold air button on my hairdryer. Is it better for your hair to use cold air?

hey im a hairdresser so ill try and explain this as simply as possible. your hair dryer has a cold button to close the cuticles after it has been dried with heat. the idea is to dry your hair with the heat on, pointing the dryer downwards to keep the hair cuticles closed. once your hair is dry, blast the cold over your hair to lock the cuticles closed. this is better for your hair as the cuticles must be closed to keep it smooth and to keep colour/perms long lasting.

*another related tip is whilst washing your hair, rinse with cold water after conditioning to lock down the cuticles, this will give you a glossy shiny glow.

hope I’ve helped :) xx

The cold air button is used once you have blow dried your hair to its style. The cold air sets the style. It works too!

Answer #3

Yes it is because its not as easy to get heat damage, but it really takes a lot longer to blowdry your hair that way and you get cold and could catch a cold.

Answer #4

It is much better for your hair. Sometimes I find though that the cold air can cause frizz. so most times I use heat then the cold air when I am done!
