Blind hamster, advice please.

I have a saturday job at a pet shop, and upstairs in one of the rooms theres a hamster in a little cage. when I asked why he was there, I was told that they couldnt sell him because he is patially blind.

I’ve been told I can have him if I want him, he already has a cage and everything he needs. I really want to bring him home, and my parents have agreed.

I already have a hamster (I’ll obviously keep them away from eachother) so I know what basic care they need, but I was wondering if, because he is blind, I would have to care for him differently? Also, is there any thing else I should know about keeping a blind hamster?

any help atall would be much appreicated. thanksss.

thank you :)

dyou think I should take him to the vets before I bring him home, just to make sure he’s 100% okay?

Answer #2

Just be a wee bit more tender towards him and make sure he doesnt get out :)

Answer #3

I used to have a half-blind hamster and we cared for him normally I think.. Maybe keep it in a one-storey cage incase it gets confused and can’t get downstairs =/

:)

Answer #4

I think yes, take him to the vet for a check up, just to make sure that he is fine.
