Is it possible to go blind by getting your conch pierced?

I heard that there is a nerve in our cartilage that when punctured can cause blindness, is it the same for getting your conch pierced.

Answer #1

By conch I assume you mean nose or phallus… the success of such a piercing depends on the skill and anatomical knowledge of your piercer. Choose wisely.

Answer #2

haha no its in the centre ear cartilage. I want to know if the nerve is there too. They use this light to determine where its safe to hit. Still kinda scared to take the chance=/

Answer #3

Most optical nerves are located in the posterior region of your skull. Ears are considered anterior, so you shouldn’t need to worry about blindness resulting from any kind of ear piercing. I’m glad they take the precautions, but it’s really a matter of anatomy.

Answer #4

No I’m pretty sure you won’t go blind. But for your safety you should go to a professional who’ll shine a torch on your conch to see where the nerves are and choose a placement where no nerves or veins will be penetrated. Good luck!
