Black Licorice Plant?

I have a weed or plant in backyard in Colorado here that smells like black licorice! What is it?

Answer #1

It is most likely Anise hyssop. The seeds smell like anise, which is a strong, licorice-like scent. Every so often, seeds will smell like mint as well. Just be careful as this plant self-seeds, meaning it could easily take over any garden.
