Could I be bipolar?

I’m not depressed all the time like people think bipolar people are, but I looked it up and I pretty much fit the description. I can be very happy then with one small push I’m very sad and confused and freaked out and cry and stuff, even though most of the time I’m Just fairly normal. How would I know if I were bipolar? What could I do? I also have anger issues. I don’t know if these are related. So, what’s the verdict; am I just a hormone crazed, emotionally unstable 14 year old girl, or am I bipolar?

Answer #1

You’d have to ask a doctor. We can’t diagnose you, we’re not professionals.

Answer #2

lmao, you sound like me. If you think you fit the description then you should definitely go to your doctor. We can’t diagnose you.

Answer #3

How does a doctor know if you are? I don’t really feel comfortable around my doctor especially cause my mom would know every thing I said to him. Do they like, test you? Or do you just talk to them?

Answer #4

They take an evaluation, a test. Nothing to do physically.

Answer #5

Your mum wouldn’t have to know if you didn’t want her to.

Answer #6

Well, I’m fourteen so kinda she would cause I couldnt go alone

Answer #7

If you’re so concerned, you shouldn’t care that your mum will be taking you.

Answer #8

If you don’t want to talk to your doctor, talk to your school counselor. But, anything you do will end you up in the same place - therapy :P I have bipolar 1, if you want to talk, just funmail me :)

Answer #9

I think it could possibly hormones. At 14 your body is still going through many changes, puberty takes a while… hormones are going mad, Ask any parent who’s had teenage daughters, lol. It’s not an easy time at all.

Answer #10

Bipolar is not a disorder where your mood changes in a heartbeat, or “with one small push”. When you go into a manic episode, you go from one extra extreme to the other. But this does not happen every day, you could be normal (whatever your normal is, sad or happy) for weeks, months even and then once you go into your manic episode you either feel EXTREMELY happy or depressed. You are not going to switch back and forth a couple times a conversation. Its a process you can FEEL happening (a depressed-to happy bi-polar will feel kind of high as they are switching, it feels good). And it is not immediate, even a fast switch is a couple week process. So I really doubt your bi-polar. But if you wanna check it out and make sure that nothing else is wrong, then there is no harm in going to see the doctor and getting his two cents.

Answer #11

Why couldn’t you? Just tell your mom you wanna go in by yourself. The doctor wont care, though he will probably tell her the result. I mean really, my mom started asking me if I wanted to go in by myself when I was 13.
