Why is my betta just laying on the bottom of her bowl?

She’s just being laying there for the past two days. My sister also has a betta and her’s is fine…swimming along the top and such. Mine is just laying at the bottom of the bowl, breathing really hard. We both have the exact same setup, and today, thinking it was the PH or something, I changed the water, but it didn’t help. We got them a little over a week ago. What’s wrong? Is she going to die? Can I help her? Thanks in advance.

i had a beta and that’s what happened to mine before it dies :( we asked around and nobody knew why, but we thought it was some sort of desiese because my friends who had gotten theirss from the same store had the same problem but ones from different stores were fine. He might die im sorry to have to say but there’s always a chance he’ll get better. Just keep an eye on him.

Also make sure you didn’t put just regular tap water in the tank…you have to cleanse it and get the chlorine out in advance before you put the fish in hope i helped :) and best wishes to your fishie

Okay, thanks. If her end comes, at least she’ll be going to an ocean in the sky. Haha :)

My beta fish is 3 and sometimes he will do that, so I lightly tap or move the tank. If you see white patches on it, you can treat the water, but it dosent do much. It could also be lighting or temperature. If there are other fish in the tank, that could also be why because betas (a.k.a. chinese fighting fish) dont like other fish and can kill the other fish. And from my recordimgs, red betas live longer than other colored fish.

good luck
