Baby robin need an answer fast

Ok so my grandmothers cat brought a baby robin to the door step. We made her dropp it on the porch. It was still breathing. It is very very tiny. I brought it home with me in the pocket of a pair of light pants to keep it warm and I had the heat on in my car to keep it warm. It is still breathing and seems to be doing well. It looks as though it was only hatched a day or two ago. I have read some of the stories. Should I try and give it some moistened cat food? I don’t know I am really trying hard to save the little guy I am moistening some cat food but everytime I turn around my cat is eating it but I am keeping him under good watch though so the cat cant get him Right now I am keeping him in a bowl with some kleenexs to try and keep him warm

Newborn birds are probably the hardest animal to raise. They need constant attention and need to be fed almost every hour. I rescued a newborn baby blue jay a few years ago that fell out of its nest, and it only lasted a few days before it died. I later found out from a vet that I over-fed it! And that’s why it died. The thing with baby birds is that it will keep opening its mouth no matter how full it is, so keep this in mind. In the wild, the mother knows exactly how much to feed the baby, but the baby doesn’t so it will keep opening it’s mouth as long as you are feeding it. So I can’t give you much advice but that. Good luck

PS I wouldn’t recommend cat food because birds don’t eat that type of meat…it’s newborn belly would probably not be able to digest it and it would definitely get sick. Go dig up some worms…you have to feed it food that its species is used to.
