What is the theory of a baby's heart rate determining the gender?

Hi there, had my 1st check up today & babies heart beat was pretty fast, well not that fast but faster than my previous pregnancies, now what I want to know is, the theory of babies heart beat per minute about if its lower than 140 beats per minute its a boy & higher than 140 beats per minute is a girl?

has anyone ever heard of this or is it all just bolony (old wives tales)?

my doctor says that if its over 160 the whole pregnancy it may be a girl. so far my highest was 180. I want another boy. its a myth I think because my sons heartbeat was higher too. I am at 14 weeks and dying to know! I have been reading up on myths. so far the chinese gender predictor has worked for my moms 5 kids, my sisters 6 kids, and my aunts 5 kids. but it could be a strange concidence.

One popular myth examined by medical pros involves the link between fetal heart rate and the baby’s sex. As the legend goes, a heartbeat above 140 beats per minute means a boy; hearts that beat slower, under 140 beats per minute, belong to girls. However, a study of some 200 pregnant women published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine in 1996 found no truth at all to the theory – and other research has echoed this finding. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=52367
