What is the cause of autism?

Can you develope it later in life or only get diagnosed when you’re a baby?

Answer #1

autisms causes are not yet found different dudes think its cognitive, some a genetic defect and others think its many complexly compounded causes that are itself the cause of this neurological disorder

Answer #2

i dont think anyone has found the cause of autism yet, if they found the cause they would have started working towards a cure, and there is no cure for autism yet

Answer #3

i beleie its soemthing your born with, not soemthing you develop later on in life. some people might not get diagnosed with it untill a bit later on though

Answer #4

sorry yeah usually its found in the least around three years or so as a baby

Answer #5

haha wow, we were just discussing autism in my human disease class. yeah like every1 said there is really not a know cause for autism. but research and statistics have shown autism has been on an increase, since like the 70s. this shows that it is dealing with more the environment than genetics. yes genes will have an affect no doubt but it is showing that something has been on an increase every since like the 70s and autism has been on the increase since then too. researchers have a hard time trying to narrow the “suspects” down since so many things seem like it wouldnt affect us.

Answer #6

one thing that did come up in the discussion is when the mother is pregnant and what she is exposed to. since autism is from birth, and diagnosed around 2 or 3 it seems to be more likely but yet nothing is for sure

Answer #7

One interesting perspective on the rise of autism is that more people are being correctly diagnosed with it. The spectrum is extremely broad and symptoms cover a large range. Autism has recently stepped into the limelight and some believe that this publicity has increased awareness about what signs to look for This increased awareness, plus the broad symptoms associated with it may effect the rate of diagnoses.

Answer #8

yeah we discussed that too in my human disease class too. i forgot to mention it.
