Did you know there's an asteroid close?

There’s a bus-sized asteroid called 2012 BX34 That is getting closer to striking Earth with each successive orbit around Sol. It recently passed between Earth and the Moon’s orbit around us. There was a mention of this same(?) asteroid in late June last year. It was alot closer to Earth this time. I wonder its solar orbital pattern will bring it to eventually hit us… I’m not worried though! An object that small, passing through our atmosphere would break apart and vaporize at it descended as a meteor. The largest mass that hits us will be about the size of a basketball up to a shopping cart. There may be horrible property damage and loss of life it and it’s fragments hit populate land, but that’s not very likely. Although there could be small tsunamis.

Answer #4

Did you guys ever see that old episode of The Simpsons where the asteroid was headed for Springfield?

Answer #5

lol @ micrometeors. I actually witnessed one hitting a parking lot in Riverton Wyoming during the hale-bopp comet passage. It was like a spontaneous pot-hole opened up in the north-east corner with a dust devil puff of debris! I checked it out and apparently the meteor was completely disintegrated in the impact. A real bummer lol.
