Asking out a frined goes horribly wrong

I screwed up, asked a girl out to a dance that was a close friend…but apparently there was a misunderstanding. She…for some reason…didn’t think I asked her, while I knew I did. Although I wasn’t as clear (my retarded ass mistake), she should have gotten the message and apparently didn’t. Well a few people found out that I was going to the dance with her, including the girl herself. Then there was silence for a week…I was confused and she wouldn’t respond to any messages or would ignore me. Eventually she messaged me saying she was very sorry and there was a misunderstanding and didn’t remember me asking her out, so on and so forth. I replied kindly apologizing, and mentioning my stupidity on the night I asked her out. I also said that my invitation was still there, and if she still wanted to go with me, I would have no problem with that. So far there is no reply, just an ominous “wow” posted on facebook… Have I destroyed this good friendship because of my stupididty? Is it even possible to overcome this awkward moment, I have been sick the past few days, but when I return school what should I do? The dance is coming up…I can pretty much scrap that idea unless I somehow make everything better… Not to mention the gossip and weird looks I have to deal with for a long time… I’m pretty shy and neutral most of the time, this is the first real drama I’ve been through and so far its going BAD.

You told her you had no problem with going with her, not that you wanted to go with her? Sigh. She’s a girl. Girls think a lot. They talk to other girls, who also think a lot. She could be thinking a lot of things. You just asked her out because it’s out there. You dont really want to go out with her. It could ruin your friendship. Etc etc. You need to sit down, THINK about what you’re going to say this time since spontaneity apparently isnt your strong suit and then call, email, text, whatever. And very rarely do people make mistakes they cant fix when their hearts in the right place. And yours is. So go fix it! And listen, even if she says yes, tell her you’re really glad she said yes, and that you are glad that all the talk and the way things got weird didnt screw things up because you really did want to go with her. Cause odds are, she’ll probably be wondering.

I’m almost positive that she did like me, and would go with me to the dance if I didnt screw up. Unfortunately I did, and now I need to deal with the repercussions…

Answer #3

I would ignore her back.. why waste your time on someone who doesnt care enought about you to reply to you! if she liked you you would know by now. jsut leave things and let her come to you. act like you dont even care anymore! :)
