Are UN peacekeepers doing more harm then good?

During the UN peacekeeping mission in kosovo the UN had a refugee camp for the muslims. The serb general arrives tells UN peacekeepers to leave they leave. The serbs then begin to slaughter the muslims. Im sure there are plenty of other examples but this is just one. first off im not going to show proof so dont ask for it. Second this is for opinions and what people think so pleaze just give an opinion and not ask for proofs your not getting any. if you want to know more look it up thats all

Answer #1

Your example is clearly tied to the question, and the example is not true, so the question becomes moot. Give us a real example of peacekeeprs doing more harm than good, and maybe you will get some better answers.

Either way, I have never seen them doing more harm than good, so the answer is no.

Answer #2

I did research it, but with out more to go on, I didn’t find it. Thanks Ty…

And I did answer the question without the example.

If this is the the Srebrenica Massacre you are refering to, from what I read, I see nothing as you describe. The UN peacekeeping forces were not told leave and then left.

Answer #3

Well heres a better way delete the event just answer question better? Heres the reason I asked to not be asked for proof I want you to research it on your own I dont want you to accept it but question then look it up.

Answer #4

“ first off im not going to show proof so dont ask for it.”

So you are not going to show proof for something you want opinions on. Well if it is not true, why would anyone want to comment on it?

Are you saying we should just take your word for it that this event happened exactly as you said? Sorry dude, it don’t work that way.

Answer #5

Of course it might be best to present these with more question all I want is opinion not some kinda drawn conspiracy theory or some kinda convincing ya that happens im glad you ask the proof question but you need to understand the difference of a debate to prove if something happened or a observation question

Answer #6

Well, if I read your question correctly you want opinions based on a falsehood. Here is my opinion: You have an agenda. One that we could all live without hearing about. You, to me, are a thinly veiled racist. Too involved in militia-like thinking. Too interested in preserving the old-southern confederacy. Too militant about abortion and I believe your questions about genocide relate back to your abortion issues. You are someone that I could see taking “action” against those you disagree with.

NOW DON”T ASK ME FOR PROOF, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE LOOK UP YOUR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, THAT’S ALL

Answer #7

well like I said I didnt say it wasnt true it is true but the point I was making was people forget the point of the question and focus on having so much proof that the example did happen it really doesnt matter im not going to give examples anymore because if I do I will spend hours showilng the proof the example is real when instead people can observe the question understand the concept and offer a opinion the problem is people should stop being focused on the example and remeber its a example and answer the question

Answer #8

Ok, let me ask you the following question.

When martians visited my house last night they told me they were coming here to invade our planet. Do you think it is a bad for martians to do that?

See my point? If you give an example of something that isn’t true, how can you expect people to respond to it.

Answer #9

You didn’t just ask a question. You asked a question framed around an event that is very questionable, and then told us not to ask for proof as to whether it actually is true. Did you really expect people to just accept your example. How could one answer that question without accepting your version of that event or others like it. If it was meant as an example, then proof of its veracity is extremely relavent.

To answer the question, no they are not doing more harm than good. I don’t believe they have ever done something that has done more harm than if they had never been there. Did they do more good than harm? Sometimes, but I don’t think they have ever made it worse.

Answer #10

Hmm ok lets give you a slight chance here…

I believe you’re referring to the The Srebrenica Massacre?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre

You cant just say something without backing it up… Maybe you were brought up to believe in talking about stuff without proof, but the liberals here actually learn to question everything they hear… (After 8 years of Bush, Im surprized everyone doesnt do that…)

And it really is immature to rate answers as unhelpful simply because you dont like what a person is saying… jimahl is making a valid point…

Answer #11

thats not true its a question not a question about the example

Answer #12

well you people just proved why I shouldnt give examples you clearly forget the question

Answer #13

why I marked it as not useful was because he did not answer the question that was the reason the question was put there

Answer #14

ok, you’re asking a question that needs evidence to back it up… it’s like saying did Bush do a good job the last 8 years, well what’s the point in me saying no without specifying how exactly he did a really bad job… If I say yes then I also need evidence…

Answer #15

Ok, to answer your question then, I’m going with jimahl, no…
