How do you get over the anxiety of sleeping somewhere other than your own house?

When I was little and got invited for sleepovers, I would go, but then phone my dad to fetch me when it gets late coz I would start to feel uncomfortable and anxious. Sometimes I would stay over, and when I did, I’d always have this uneasy feeling and lay awake for hours before falling asleep. I’m 18 now and I still kind of have that problem. I recently had to sleep at my cousins’ and stayed awake all night! Even when I travel, its takes me hours to fall asleep. I don’t know if this is a sleeping problem or what, but it’s so frustrating!

bring a few of fave home belongings to make the new bed homely and keeping busy with pals so your mind isn’t on the distance. Those in combo turn your sleepless nights into pleasant evenings and slumber.

Answer #2

I always try to picture myself in my own bed, and if there are other noises I’ll just say “Oh that’s mom making coffee” or something like that. Hope this helps!! Good luck ;)

The more you are exposed to it the better it will get, like the top user said, take something from your house, like your own pillow or own blanket, that way you’ll sleep much easier.

Find the thing that gives you comfort most. Like I’m comfortable listening to music wherever I go. Carry whatever it is with you. It could also be that you don’t have the comfort that you might in your own home. Just help out with whatever is going on when your around to gain comfort. Like help out with dinner, talk with your friends parents, etc. It could also be the fact that you keep it sheltered and that makes you feel uneasy. Talking eases tension, so maybe try talking to a friend? Tell her your issue. I personally can’t sleep at other peoples houses because I’d prefer being in my own bed. Doing it oftenly can also erase your fear. Getting used to it will make it easier I guess. :) I know it’s not much, but hoped it helped somehow.

You can try taking something that makes you feel like home. I, for example, have to sleep covered with the same sheet when I sleep somewhere else and also I have to have an extra pillow and stuff like that. Meaby that is what you need? Meaby a teddy bear, a blancket, talking to someone before you go to bed that your used to talking and things like that.

I would not have a clue how to help someone with this, I sleep where I fall, and can sleep almost anywhere. Your answer sounds good though.
