Another question...

Ok this is a bit of an update on my dog. We called up another vet, and he thinks there is still hope. There’s a different surgery we can try and the vet is pretty hopeful that it’ll work… so we just might be able to save her yet!

What are your thoughts? Go for the surgery?

Answer #1

I would make sure because of her age you choose to have a I’ve Catherter for the sugery and do all pre-anesthetic blood work, As long as all this comes back ok. then go for it. However if her blood work it off the doctor will talk to you about and you still may have to make a tuff choice? Is she spayed? Just asking because this does not usuallly happen in spayed dogs.

Answer #2

Wow! That’s good news! I say GO FOR IT! If there’s a chance at saving your dog, don’t you want to do it? Good luck and I hope everything turns out in your favor!

I know phrannie! We didn’t understand the other vet either. He tried to put her down once before. She was injured and he was like “eh it’s best to put her down” we said no way. That night she crawled and forced herself up the steps so shecould be with us. She recovered quickly. I bet she’ll be ok this time too.

And the new vet said that most animals pull through this surgery just fine. I think they’re going to try to get the cancer out of her too.

Good…I didn’t quite understand why the other Vet was so pessimistic…she’s old, but not ancient…10 years old can still have a few years to go. And she’s sick, but a spay is something Vets do everyday, so I’d think that they could be in and out of her, relatively quickly (putting less stress on her). Anitbiotics and loving care, and you’ll maybe have your girl around for a long while. :)

Are they going to leave the breast tumors alone…at least for now??

Answer #5

How did things go? Did you get the surgery done?

Answer #6

Hey! Good deal! That’s great news, I’m glad your dog is going to be alright :)

Answer #7

OMG! This is great! She had the surgery! She didn’t even HAVE pyometra, it was something else! He doesn’t even think she has cancer, just an infection! He thinks that there’s a great chance she’s going to be fine! I’m so glad. Thanks to everyone who has posted about this though.

Answer #8

If the cancer hasn’t spead, and breast cancer in dogs does stay encapsuled for quite a while, you might her for a long time…she’s a fighter, I can tell…

Hugs!! :)
