Another about forces =/ I dont get it

If someone pushes you to the left with 8n of force and someone else pushes you to the right with 3n… And then someone else pulled on you to keep you in equilibrium, how much force would they need to us and in what direction would they have to pull?

Answer #1

5n pull to the right.

To be in equilibrium the forces have to be balanced. Your set up has 8n to the left and 3n to the right which is a net force of 5n to the left. You need to balance that with 5n to the right. It can be a push or a pull. It doesn’t matter.
