why sould I give my money a way?
I voted for McCain. I do like some of Obamas ideas but he only has 1 year of experinse. I don’t believe in well fair, because why should some work so hard to get to were they are now(a good home and job) and then give all their money to someone you didn’t work at all, who just ate and slept and then to get a decent house and still not work. I DO believe that we sould give some money to children who can’t honestly make a liveing and help them out like good food and clothing also a nice, warm, dry place to sleep plus love and care. but why sould I give my money a way that I worked hard on getting to an ADULTwho has done nothing to support him/her self. ANY ONE AGREE?
And most of his term as U.S. Senator was spent campaigning for the White House, Yep, that certainly makes him qualified to be the CEO of this country.
seao2florida, Obama served 8 years in the Illionois State Senate. When he resigns from the senate to become president, he will have served 4 years in the US Senate.
Obama has been elected to one position and has moved to seek another. Is he qualified? I certainly hope so. He is now in office. Whatever the reason. And no he doesn’t have 1 years experience. He’s had some as a state senator, and 1 1/2 years as a National Senator. We now have him, and all we can all do is hope that he willl do well.
Added: You really should do your research on welfare and on Obama’s ideas better before you go off ranting about something that you obviously don’t know that much about.
“I don’t believe for minute that only those who make $225,000 plus will be the people seeing the tax hikes…the total is already eeking down…right now to $150,000…with more “eeking” to come, I’m sure.”
Phrannie, please provide the source for this claim?
Obama is not taking money from people who have worked hard and giving it to lazy people. He is taxing people who make more than 250,000 a year. The percentage of people in the U.S. that make that much is around 20 percent. So not that many people would be affected by it, in fact, more people would actually benefit from it.
Biden in a speech just before the election put the figure at $150,000. Richardson, the Governor of New Mexico in an Obama rally put the figure at $120,000. I listened to both speeches. Now they could have been gaffs, but no one to my knowledge came out and corrected either statement.
To answer the question, no I don’t think it is “fair” to “share the wealth”. We are a capitalistic society. It has made our country the greatest on the planet. We should not go down that road and take away the incentives to those who come up with a good idea, promote it and make money. Socialism on paper is an excellent way of life. In reality it doesn’t work that well.
“I don’t believe in well fair”
I hate be a stickler for spelling (love it actually) but it’s WELFARE.
Anyway, your characterization of welfare recipients is very broad and ignorant. While welfare fraud exists and there are people who take advantage of the system, the majority of families on welfare are on and off it in less than 3 years. Welfare really doesn’t keep up with the cost of living, either (neither do wages, though), and most welfare recipients have work experience from jobs held while on welfare or just before applying for aid.
First, Obama doesn’t only have one year of experience.
I’m reading his book. The Audacity of Hope, and it actually talks about all the years that he was in politics. My mom kept a Jet magazine from 2004 with Obama on the front. (don’t know why, but glad she did) and it just shows what he’s done in politics and a lot of other things.
So, it’s not like Obama just all of a sudden last year thought. “Oh, I’d like to be president.” Yeahhh…no.
Also, try living in Michigan. Ask these people here why they are on welfare, then lets see if you have the same opinion as you do now.
Stop thinking about YOURSELF and start thinking about EVERYONE.
That isnt how the world works… People work 40 to 80 hours a week and still cant get by… There is no such thing as equality for all… Schools are supposed to be the great equalizer, but they’re paid for by property taxes… which means the schools in the good neighbourhoods are better funded, they have textbooks and equipment, play grounds… Schools in bad areas have lower educated teachers, fewer textbooks, violence, guns, crime, a lot of people dont make it through school… It’s nice you think people work for what they get, but the world simply does not work that way… Wealth is passed down through generations… How is it unfair to tax the wealthy (who is it, those earning about 250 grand a year?) more than those who dont earn as much?
The trillions being handed out to bankers these days makes it difficult to argue against welfare.
I don’t think the long term prognosis is good for the US. If even in the midst of unnecessary war, government caused financial meltdown, and unprecedented bailouts left and right, voters can not bring themselves to oust the Republicratic oligarchy that caused the mess, there really is little hope.
Wealth is passed down through generations…
Perhaps great wealth like the Rockafellers and the Kennedy’s, is passed down…tho, many of the richest right now, made it on their own…ie Bill Gates, Warren Buffet…Ted Turner…Oprah…hard work and ingenutity.
I don’t believe for minute that only those who make $225,000 plus will be the people seeing the tax hikes…the total is already eeking down…right now to $150,000…with more “eeking” to come, I’m sure.
