How old were you when you moved out of your parents house?

This has to do with my future,I want adult answers only. How old were you when you moved out of your parents house? Were you homesick after you left? How did you cope with not being around your parents?

Answer #1

I was 15 and I was forced out of my home…looking back, I don’t blame my mother for making that decision - I was an awful teen.

I actually did get a little home sick because I ended up on the streets, and a strict home with ‘mean’ parents beats that any day.

I moved out when I turned 18. I was not home sick cause I wasnt home much anyways. And did I miss them no. I ahd a very horrible childhood and my teen years werent much better so… And I can go see my dad whenever I want if I want to. But my mom moved to South Carolina 2 months after I moved out.

Answer #5

Hi! I was just 18 when I left home and I moved from the UK to Spain to work as a nanny. I didn’t feel homesick until about 6 weeks after I got there, on Christmas day, then it hit me. I got over it though. I think that if you have a good relationship with your parents you will miss them when you move out, but it depends how far away you go and how often you continue to see them. You parents will hopefully gradually prepare you for independence by teaching you all you need to know in order to look after yourself. When you know you’ve got all the necessary skills you will feel more confident. All the best.

Answer #6

You ask a lot of questions :) It’s an independant feeling, but only do it, if it’s what you want to do, maybe get somewhere nearby. It can be hard living away from your parents, butyou’d get used to it, it helps your independance and makes you satisfied with yourself. I’m not really sure what you call an ‘adult’ but I tried to answer your question, and if I didnt answer good enough, sorry. MISS FF
