Academic pentathlon?

Has anyone heard of academic pentathlon, referred to at my school as just pentathlon? Its a program like academic decathlon, but its for 8th graders only. you compete with a team of up to nine members in the subjects of math, science, writing, and super quiz, along with reading a novel and taking a test on that as well. Last year, the super quiz subject was ancient olympics, but it can be any subject on the planet, basically. if anyone has ever heard of it, please tell me!

I just searched it and read some brief information - I think that would be cool to do so students would actually enjoy learning.
