What is some information about absent seizures?

My daughter was just diagnosed with absence seizures, what information do you have on these type of seizures?

Answer #1

Absence seizures last between 10 and 30 seconds and rarely cause a true convulsion that makes the person collapse or fall down. The absence seizure is caused by abnormal and intense electrical activity in the brain. Basicly, the electrical signals of the brain’s nerve cells that communicate with eachother become abnormal. When a person has this type of seizure they tend to stare into space or they are in a daze and their awareness and responsiveness are impaired until the seizure stops. They usually start in between the ages of 4 and 14 years old. Good news is that the majority of children will outgrow them, nearly 70% of cases stop by the age of 18. Genetics may play a role in why the seizures are present but more research is needed to find the actual cause of this type of seizure. One thing I highly recommend to everyone but especially anyone with any type of health condition to get a liquid nutritional drink product that contains vitamins, minerals and mangosteen which would help give their body the proper nutrients that it needs to be optimally healthy. A great product that I use can be found at efruitjuice.com
