A riddle I made-up. A 13 year old so if you can't get it...then...

So a young man is walking down the road. He sees a fairly slow turtle with a remarkebly odd marking on it’s shell. One of a kind. No other in the world has the same marking, for a fact. He keeps walking down this little durt road. Listening to bird sing their wonderful little songs and the splashes of water. Then he looks ahead of him and sees the same turtle with the marking on his shellway in front of him. How could this slow turtle have passed him??
