And God could do anything he wants its just that he chooses not to. God could make us wealthier than four hundred countries and more powerful than the American Military Forces. There is just no reason to do that tho. God doesn’t do the walking for us he is there to guide us and help us.

As for the storm thing, please, Don’t think of God as just being merciful. God is wrathful too. Tho only a fool would go to tell you the intent of God. There is no person here on earth that can claim to know what an almighty God proclaims as his will. Anyone who says they can are idiotic fools.

Here’s how the Bible was written. One guy would write a propaganda tract loosely based on a pre-existing story of some kind and use arguments from authority to make it more believable. Then another guy later on would do the same thing, modifying what existed earlier to suit his propaganda goals. This went on and on for centuries.

Modern analytical techniques have allowed us to peal away a good portion of these layers and reveal a very human story rather than a supernatural one. You can even see later authors lambasting the writings of earlier writers. This is particularly prevalent in the epistles, which is why Paul is essentially incoherent in many places and contradicts himself left and right.

By the way, this type of thing has been detected in numerous ancient writings, not just the Bible.

So no, not insane people, just ordinary writers of the times.

Yes it is mostly based on ancient mythology. And since the ancients likely had members of their population that suffered from schizophrenia, it’s entirely possible that is what motivated certain parts of the Bible.

Most of the world’s population believes in a supreme being in one form or another. However, every religion believes in a different god or gods, and they can’t all be right. So although most people are theists, there is no “majority consensus” on what that supreme being is.

Most Christians believe that dinosaurs existed, but they falsely believe that dinosaurs existed at the same time as h_ sapiens, when there is overwhelming fossil evidence to prove otherwise.

God is not responsible for storms or any other natural phenomenon. That is the work of, well, nature itself. As for the mortality issue, most religions have explanations why humans are not immortal. Suffice to say the only real answer is that we are biological systems and like all biological systems, we eventually expire.

I do not think the men who wrote the Bible were insane. I think they were just a product of their times. I do think all religions are a combination of myth, morals and culture which explains why each group of people has a different set of beliefs.

Your mom is using an “argument from popularity” which is a logical fallacy. Our brains don’t really do a very good job on their own of figuring things out. That’s why we need tools like science and reason to test our beliefs and see if they really do accurately describe the world around us.

Some Christians believe no dinos ever existed but most do, I think. Certainly most of the ones I know accept this fact. Orion is correct in that the Bible does mention the Leviathan and the Behemoth which may be references to some leftover type of dino. Who knows? If someone does know more about this, drop a funmail.

As for God’s action and inaction regarding evil, I find this to be compelling evidence why the omnipotent and omnibenevolent Christian god cannot be real. I’ve heard lots of arguments against this but they never really answer the question.

Many men who were thought to be insane and considered genies today. I don’t think that Mark and Matt and john were insane, estatic sure but wouldn’t you be if you thought you walked with the phyiscal body of God? Now as for Emperor Constantine and his “band of mary men” who knows.

The best explination for why God dosen’t do all these things that I’ve heard is that we are like children to him. Our intellegents and rationallity is less than a childs to his. I believe that the bible is a good message and philosy for life, You just have to find the message between the coruption of the men who have written it over and over aging

The Holy Bible is the word of God. It was written by good men inspired by God, but Satan would love for us to think the Bible is fake or that “insane” people wrote it. LOL!

It is up to each one of us to decide for ourselves to believe or not that God is real. Personally I can’t understand why anybody would doubt it. There is so much proof that God exists that it is overwhelming.

Did you know that the majority of the people are wrong the majority of the time? Truth is in the minority, while the majority are wrong. All down thru history it is so. So, if you find yourself at odds with the majority, you are probably right.

I’m a Christian and all my Christian friends believe in dinos. Yep, it’s true we do. Never doubted it either. The Bible also talks about dinosarus too.

It is because God loves us so much that He has shortened out lives. You see, life here on earth is just a test to see who we choose to serve; if it be Satan or if it be God.

Think of Satan as the color black and God as the color white, or better yet, think of Satan as pure hate, and God as pure love. . . it should be easy to choose between the two, right? But Satan tricks us into thinking God is the evil one and he is the good one. That way Satan can corrupt our world and cause God pain as He watches His people being deceived again and again, while Satan laughs in His face.

That’s why Jesus came here to save us and show us the way to heaven.

It is Satan who destroys our homes, starves our children, rapes, plunders, lies, cheats, threatens…not God.

Soon Jesus Christ’s second coming will happen, very soon now. Then God’s people will live forevermore thru out eternity; no more pain, hunger, sadness…it’ll be paradise! So, please strive to be in the kingdom with God. He is worth it…you’ll see.

So many books have been left out of the bible, its turned into a joke. Man wrote the bible, not god. Don’t worry what others believe. As long as you have faith in god yourself.

Tell me you’re not serious. Please? You can’t possibly conclude anything about how likely something is to be true based on how popular it is. Following your line of reasoning, it is more likely that the earth is flat and at the center of the universe, because most people don’t believe it anymore.

I think the word ‘wrong’ is totally subjective in many matters.

Also, it really has no place in a discussion about faith as faith is generally not based on facts or rights and wrongs.

Hence the word ‘wrong’ (and for that matter the word ‘right’) can rarely be used in such a discussion as views, opinions and beliefs are not usually based upon right or wrongs.

Just my opinion, hope this makes sense.

God put us on this earth to test us. Weather or not we choose the right path is up to us. I know this sounds mean but natural disasters are necessary as the word “natural” suggests. The whole world is a test. The afterlife is ‘the real deal’
