Is it OK to leave a 9-year-old home alone?

Dear mandastar, I’m not too familiar with american laws but Canadian laws you are not allowed to leave a 9 year old home all day alone. From the ages…different ages in provences…but ages 10-12 are allowed alone for only a short period of time..lets say an hour or 2. From that point on it’s not very clear but it depends on the child’s maturity. I would call children’s protective services in the case of a 9 year old being home all day alone. I can’t imagine how someone would feel if a terrible thing happened to that child when they knew he was there alone. If you know he is there alone and they found out you knew and didn’t report it you can be fined and pretty hefty amount. Sue…good luck

it’s ILLEGAL to leave a 9 year old alone they have to be 12 to legally be home alone and he can get into something that is dangerous or he could start a fire or he could be killed

this is not good! too many things can happen when a child is learning at this age. they like to explore and that can be dangerous.
