How do I get my 5 month old chihuahua to eat?

Answer #1

If the food is too hard Put water on it.You cant make him eat when he gets hungry he will eat Thats how my dog was Then he ate. :)

Answer #2

He may not like the food or it may simply be too hard for him. Try doing as Andrea suggested and putting water on it. You can also get some canned food and mixed some kibble with it. Chihuahuas should eat several times a day as they tend to be hypoglycemic so its important that he eats. If he goes more than a day or two without eating, you should take him to the vet to insure there is nothing wrong.

Answer #3

I hv a pincher/chihuahua she loves the taste of chicken, took us forever to find a brand she liked. Its like going to a restaurant, just like we like certain foods, so do dogs. Doesnt matter what breed…they will always have a preference so what we did was buy small bags, see what she liked & finally found it. Then we found out it was still too dry, so the vet told us to mix the dry food with a bit of canned food or simply mix the dry food with your regular cooking oil, not water! (it helps the dogs digest the food better)

hope this helps.

Answer #5

This tip might help if you have another dog: (True story): My kitten wouldnt drink. She would eat, but not drink. I started to worry. Then I set a bowl out in te livingroom since thats where she was sitting, and she still wouldnt drink. My other cat came in and started drinking it, which influenced my kitten to drink and shes been fine ever since.
