What can I do for a 2nd degree sunburn on my face?

I was out in the sun all weekend, and apparently I did not apply enough sunscreen (I am usually very diligent) but my face is bright red and swollen and is forming blisters over about 25% of it. Is there anything I can do? Especially to hasten the healing process. Any advice would be amazing, thank you!

Answer #1

You need to see your famiily doctor. A second or third degree burn that forms blisters needs to be examined. A doctor can also prescribe you medication that you wouldnt be able to purchase over the counter. In the meantime take ibuprofen (pain relief and reduces swelling) and use aloe vera on your face.

Answer #2

Use aloe vera and I would also use neosporin to help it heal!! good luck

Answer #3

oh, that must hurt! I think you should go to your Doctor or even the hospital.

Answer #4

Ouch. cool it.

Best to use wet linen towels (that do not have fuzz) or Aloe Vera gel if you have that and some pain relief stuff. And then you should also go to the doctor.

Later you’ll need a good after-sun lotion to prevent your skin from going all dry and peeling off. Aloe Vera gel is a good choice there, too. But you should also ask at a pharmacy shop they might have something better.

And keep your face out of the sun in the next two weeks. Use a large hat, stay in the shadows.

Where are you? You must be way down south… Africa, Southeast Asia or Australia? I’m in Germany. We have 3 °Celsius (that’s 37,4 °Farenheit), rain and cloudy skies. We could exchange places. You come here and have my mantle and give your skin recovery time. And I crawl through the Internet and go to vacation to your place and get tanned… :-) (Just kidding.)
