Does taking 2 baby aspirins a night before bed really help to reduce your chances of having a heart attack?

I’ve heard this more than once, so I was just wondering how true it actually is?

Answer #1

If you take an aspirin supplement regularly, yes. But the downside, eg, more likely to get heart burn, acid reflux, etc….it’s kind of a “which pain are you more interested in avoiding” situation rather than aspirin supplements are always good, all the time.

I think the main reason for the spreading of this is in the US, chronic obesity (which leads to heart attack, hypertension, etc) which can be helped by thinning your blood….and, the fact that tylenol (aceitometiphin…can’t spell) is bad for you if taken regularly b/c it certainly damages the liver.

Before doing something like the aspirin supplement, I would check with a doctor.

Answer #2

My Doc Said It Could Could Help Prevent Heart Attacks But You Have to Watch Out For Liver Damage With Tylenol.. I Take.. Lovastatin It Has Lowered My Cholestrol 62 Points. He Said That’s Great! The Aspirin Could Be Used A Prevention Thing.. But He Said Low Dose . He Said Not Acetametophine. Aspirin, I’m Am Not Doing The Aspirin Regimin Because My Meds Are “Working. Excessive Aspirin Could Cause Clotting Probs Too.

Answer #3

It thins out your blood and could actually help, however regular use of aspirin can cause chronic acid reflux over time. I would suggest that unless you have an underlying heart condition to not use it and focus on living a healthy lifestyle with enough exercise to reduce your chances of having a heart attack.

Answer #4

Consuming alcohol (beer, wine or distilled spirits) in moderation can also dramatically reduce the risk of heart attack.
