1st Amendment

Well I know I’ve been al ittle busy lately and I havent gotten around to answering a lot of questions but now I have a question for all of you …

“Do you all believe that if you work in a place where the standards of your job is to promote and enforce the 1st Amendment to visitors, that as an employee you should be stripped of a few of the freddoms in the 1st Amendment yourself and hold your opinion to yourself when asked what you think? “

Well I want you guys and girls to tell me what you think!!

Oh By the Way The 1st Amendment is:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

So your Freedoms are: Religin, Speech, Press, Assembly, Petition.

Answer #1

At my last job one of my duties was to be a representative of my department.

All my phone conversations, emails, etc. represented my employer when I was at work. Because of this I wasn’t at liberty to say whatever I wanted to.

When I was not at work I had the same rights as anyone else though.

Answer #2

Need to know - Exactly what are the freedoms you’ve been stripped of specifically ?

Answer #3

OOOK, What I am saying is respecting the 1st Amendment is fine and being professionsal is always a must but in the same breath you would have to underrstand that to contradict yourself is NOT accepable especially when Im not the only 1 who feels that way where I work

Answer #4

we have turned the constitution into a wax nose. on one hand, it’s great because I like to shape it into a duck or a hot rod. the downside is that it no longer yields delicious boogers

Answer #5

You are supposed to be a professional when you are at the work place and learn to keep your cool and just help the customers. That being said though - if some customer was in there calling me crude names, insulting me, touching me, etc, I would take action no matter what I was supposed to do.

Answer #6

If whatever is being done to you is clearly wrong, CERTAINLY you should speak up so the wrong is corrected !!
