17 year old runaway

I have a friend that took off from his house last night because him and his brother got into it and then his parent jumped in and … Well long story short “He’s gone”. He doesn’t know if it’ll be for good or just for a enough time so he can get a “breather” (as he calls it). I’m worried about his mom getting the law involved and trying to pick him up from my house or something. I can see where he’s coming from but my question is can the law come after a 17 year old runaway?

Answer #1

Yes the law can come after him. He is a minor…the only way he can’t get in trouble is if he is over the age of eighteen when he legally of age. If the police find him they’ll most likely arrest him and put him into Juvenile Hall for a few days to ‘straighten him out.’ This may not seem so fun but it’s no walk in the park..you have to shower in front of guards and sleep in a bed with one sheet. My dad dealt with Juvi kids and your friend does not want to go there. He needs to go home and talk to his parents!

Answer #2

Kenton Ohio eh? I have a friend who lives there. Apparently yes, unless he’s 18 then his parents can get the law involved in it. I think a few days in Juvie or something. If I was him I’d deal with their crap and wait ‘till I was 18 and tell them to shove it. But… Yeah, They can come after him. If he’s living at your house then you guys could be charged as an accessory.
