Why can't two 15 year olds get married?

Yes, you can be engaged. Because that is only between you two and not official. You only have to promise each other that you will get married.

But there are laws that limit marriage age, in almost every country of the world. You are supposed to get married when you form your own family. Have your own home, have your own kids, and make your own money.

Most 15 year olds live with their parents, have a pocket money job if any at all and still go to school. And most 15 year olds have no relationship longer than a couple of months.

Of course there are exceptions, and if you are one of the few 15-year olds who make their own money and already own a home for themselves it would seem unfair…. But then, if you both are really sure you want to marry, you can just live together like a married couple does and marry as soon as you are old enough. I’d still wait with having kids until your wife-to-be is 18 at least. It’s not healthy for a girl to have a baby while she’s still growing.

You can be engaged, but to be legally married you’d have to be of legal age.

You can get engaged, but why rush into marriage? It’s just a piece of paper. It doesn’t change you two in any way. If anything, marriage actually ruins relationships sometimes. When getting married you need to make sure you’re doing it because you’re in love with this person and you truly want to spend the rest of your life with them. A good way to know if this is the case, is to spend years with them before you get married. You need to be getting married because of love, not because you want the title.

Because marriage is a legally binding contract. You cannot enter into a legally binding contract under 18 unless you get special permission from the court. Oh and because 99.9% of teens are not ready. And ALL of them think they are the 0.01% exception.
