Was the story of Joan of Arc true or not?

Historians tell us Joan of Arc indeed lived but as with any story from the middle ages the story could have been embellished over time. The story goes that as a girl she felt she was called by God to war and lead French armies and lead them to victory. She was later captured and in England tried and convicted of heresy and burned at the stake at 19. Later she was exonerated and declared a martyr and then sainted by the Catholic church decades later.
