FunAdvice Trivia: What big hit made number 1 the following week after "Green Tambourine" was on top?

A) Mrs. Robinson B) Love is Blue C) Hey Jude D) (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay

Answer #1

C) Hey Jude. because that’s the only one I’ve heard of.

Answer #2

The real question is, how did “Green Tambourine” ever make it to the top of the charts? Ick, lol.

Well, I’d say Dock of the Bay was probably too early, and Hey Jude too late, so I’ll guess A) Mrs. Robinson.

On the other hand, if people were in the mood for Green Tambourine, they probably went for Love Is Blue, too - equally saccharine. So it’s a hard choice, but I’ll stick with Mrs. Robinson, since like everyone else I was hot for her at the time.

.

Lizzie, have you seen the classic movie The Graduate? Mrs. Robinson, by Paul Simon (sung with Art Garfunkle) was the theme song. The song may be a bit dated, but the film is still referenced often in pop culture, especially the iconic image from its ad poster (featuring the legs of Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson), and its most famous line: “Plastics!”

But really, you ought to give a listen to Dock of the Bay, one of the most beautiful R&B songs ever, by the great Otis Redding.
